about

The Minor Springtime is a 2007 album by Paulie J Fox. Recorded in the spring of 2007, it is officially available NOW to download for FREE!

A brief period spent in Liverpool and London inspired a gruelling 2 week recording session in the now defunct Chunky Bomb Studios. It was the most Minor of Springtimes- Fox felt that he had to capture the moment/s, and fast! The recording began suddenly, in a fit of passion, and it simply DID NOT STOP, day after day, hour after hour, Paulie J Fox formed the ugliest of guitar solos, the strangest of melodies and the tinniest of drum patterns. So little did he sleep during this manic period in fact, that he eventually collapsed from exhaustion and said "That'll do rightly". Here are the fruits of his labour.

It was a Minor Springtime, enjoy it while it lasted!

The following article appeared in the press before the album's launch in summer 2007, here it is for posterity purposes;

"Paulie J Fox has been sighted by several members of the public in the past week or so, in and around the Belfast town centre area. Sporting "preppy" clothing and a "really wack" hat. His hair, it seems has become long and unruly. "Disgusting" as described by one stunned onlooker. It has been reported that Fox has been acting awkwardly when met by acquaintances in the street, giving almost "pre-programmed" answers about what he is up to and where he now lives (information yet to be obtained by this source). His skin, now pale and dry, some say with a "real psycho" look in his eyes. "He just looked like he had totally let himself go over Christmas" said Micheal Upton, one of the first to witness Fox on the street in quite a while. "I mean, what does he think he's doing?! Does he even REALISE his fans are going to see him like this? He's turning out to be a real disappointment, I heard he won't even LISTEN to that "Hughes Caravan Beatz" song anymore, man, that was his BEST SONG! I heard his new shit is totally mong!"

Fox has apparently retreated into an almost hermit-like existence in the past month, in order to write material for his first full length album, the details of which are yet to be released to the general public. "Man, I wish he'd take his head out of his own ass for one second and sort himself out" Upton continued, "I saw him in Burger King for Christ's sake. And my girlfriend says she sees him in WEST every day eating a Club Sandwich and he doesn't even eat the crusts and she says he leaves the table in such a mess. Dude, he's turning into a real 'tard."

One of Belfast's most musical sons, unknown to those who have not visited his infamous FOXSPACE myspace account, as well as refusing to appear in public to perform his solo material unless his "highly unreasonable" demands are met. "Paulie J Fox will NEVER perform in my club." says Philip J Owen, proprietor of THE BIG HOLE, one of Belfast's top venues, showcasing the latest in Northern Irish talent, "He really needs to tighten up his act, I saw him play in Glasgow at the ELBOW ROOM, and he was a mess. And what's the deal with his ridiculous demands?! Christmas lights on stage? Free water? Who does he think he is? Mariah Carey?!"

Fox’s general inability to deliver what his fans expect has come as no surprise to his close friends; peer and fellow Imperial Blether member Neil Burns had this to say; “He’s had a lot of stuff to deal with lately. That extra half-stone he put on over Christmas has really hit him hard, and he’s been to the doctor’s a few times now because his hair isn’t curling the way he wants it to”. But not everybody is giving Fox such an easy ride; “He used to be SO Seth from the OC, he was cute and really quirky!” said Tina Mulholland, a former fan and somewhat avid Foxspace promoter, “But now he’s more like Seth from the UGC! (He’s this really geeky guy who works there, he’s totally gross).”

So just what does the future hold for Paulie J Fox? Although rumors of a break-up circulated in the tabloids in mid 2006, a split now seems unlikely. In an interview with SMASH THIS magazine late last year, Fox seemed intent on following the Country stylings of his idol Billy Ray Cyrus; “Listen man, I’m just so sick of that faux hip-hop crap, you get me? I’m not Ice-T! I’m not even Vanilla Ice! I heard Ryan Adams’ new hip-hop shit you know? It totally blew me away, I’m never going to be any better than that. And Ryan Adams, u know, he’s coming from that whole alt-country scene. I’m really into that, you get me? I just want to cut loose. I’m workin on this really cool cover of “5,6,7,8” by Steps. It’s really comin together right now, this new album is really what I’m all about.”

Ok Paulie, we believe you!"

Thank you for paying attention.
